At present, there are around 250 species of nonmetal mineral resources available for industry in the world. The quantity of nonmetal mineral resources exploited is over 250 hundred million tons per annum. Annual total value of nonmetal mineral material is about 2000 hundred million USD dollars which much more than the value of metal mineral. Its trade value is over 300 hundred million USD dollars, and increases at 3% speed per annum. So someone think human stepped into the second Stone Age. The level of nonmetal mineral resources exploited and utilized has become an important symbol to evaluate economic development level of one country.

China is one of few countries in the world who own full species of nonmetal mineral resources with rich resources and high quality. So far, China has found 102 species of nonmetal mineral resources, and 88 species are proved reserves; the reserves of 10 species are in the leading status of the world. Nonmetal products and goods such as cement, fluorite, barytes, talc, magnesite, plumbago etc.,their outputs have been in leading place in the world for many years.
